Giving a Blessing

R. Hanina b. Papa said: To enjoy this world without a benediction is like robbing the Holy One.
-Berachoth 35b

Commentary: The previous passage emphasized the importance of taking time to enjoy the world. This passage lets us know that enjoyment of the world also provides us with the opportunity to make a spiritual connection. Since everything in this world belongs to G-d, we have an obligation to give thanks for all of our beautiful experiences, and by so doing, we create for ourselves a proper, spiritual alignment.
