DAAT
Daat is a pseudo-sefirah that
is positioned on the central column of the Tree of Life above Tiferet and
below Chokmah and Binah. Astrologically, it correpsonds to Pluto, transformation.
Daat means knowledge, and it is really a reflection of Keter at a lower
level. If we think of Chokmah and Binah as representing the right and left
hemispheres of the brain, respectively, then the functions of these two
parts come together to form knowledge. However, what is knowledge? We have
perceptions and things are known, but if we look within to that place where
things are known, we find no objects. We find only the divine no-thingness
of Keter. This gives deeper meaning to the following Talmudic passage:
"Whenever there is in a man knowledge, it is as if the Sanctuary
had been built in his days, for knowledge is set between two names (For
a God of knowledge is the Lord), and the Sanctuary is set between two names
(Thou hast made, O Lord, the Sanctuary, O Lord). - Berachoth 33a"
