INTRODUCTION

Welcome to Lone Star Kabbalah! When considering the writings of Judaism, one might think of them as a body of work supported by three pillars - Torah, Talmud, and Kabbalah. To give a simplistic description of the distinction between the three, we might say that Torah tells us WHAT to do, Talmud tells us HOW to do it, and Kabbalah explains WHY we do it. For example, if Torah tells us not to jump off a cliff, then the Talmud explains what constitutes a cliff and how far should one stay away from the edge. Meanwhile, Kabbalah gives a complete description of the theory of gravity and the force with which one would hit the ground so that we could understand why not to jump off that cliff.

Over the centuries, Kabbalah has gone through several periods of popularity, and this has resulted in hybrid forms that are more or less separated from Kabbalah's Jewish roots. Therefore, throughout I have tried to avoid these hybrid forms and to stay as close as possible to authentic Jewish Kabbalah. Also, real Kabbalah is not about acquiring money or power, but about learning how to live in a spiritually connected way. Furthermore, Kabbalah should not be studied apart from Torah and Talmud. It's all interconnected!

While I've tried to stay close to authentic sources, everything also gets filtered through my own Texas, Jewish brain, and so this site also represents my own particular understanding of the tenets of Kabbalah. Hence, read everything contained within in the light of your own discrimination, and if you find something here that is of value to you, so much the better! ENJOY!
