Chapter 6, Verse 2


2. Three mothers, Aleph-Mem-Shin, air, water, and fire. Fire is above, water is below, and air of breath is the rule that decides between them, and a sign of this thing is that fire supports water, Mem hums, and Shin hisses, and Aleph is the breath of air that decides between them.

The statement that fire supports water reminds us that it is the spiritual which is the support of the material and not the other way around. Furthermore, as air decides between them, so does man, in whom was breathed a living soul, connect heaven and earth, the spiritual with the material.
