Chapter 6, Verse 3

3. The Teli in the universe is like a king on his throne. The cycle in the year is like a king in the province. The heart in the soul (person) is like a king in war.

Space, if it could exist in isolation, would be characterized by unmoving stillness. In this way, it is like the perception of the Holy One as unchanging. Time, however, creates movement in space and causes the King to be experienced as a flux and a dance of energy, symbolized by a king moving about his province. Man is capable of perceiving opposites and making choices. Hence, the Talmud speaks of man's heart as having two inclinations, the inclination for good (yetzer hatov) and the inclination for evil (yetzer hara), and the two inclinations battle one another in trying to convince a person to make a particular choice. Hence, the heart is like a King in war.

"Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, etc. 'With all they heart, means with they two impulses, the evil impulse as well as the good impulse. -Berachoth 54a"
