This trek begins in Searcy, White County, Arkansas, where Brit and Prude are buried in the Oak Grove Cemetary. Mammie, as she was affectionately known, lived the last years of her life with her daughter and son-in-law, Thelma and Joe Dedman in Longview, Texas.

Norma Ione Majors was likely born in Searcy, White Co., AR about 1898, the eldest of five children. She married Rolla Ira Rowden in Searcy, AR on April 24, 1916. She and Rolla divorced (Oct 1917) after the birth of their only son, Virgil William Rowden born Febraury 15, 1917, and she and Virgil moved to Little Rock, Pulaski Co., AR.

There she was married to Charles L. Hanley (reportedly a baseball player) and then later to Phillip 'Dutch' Hemmelrath, who she married in Little Rock on January 30, 1935. They lived at 1601 Wright Avenue. At some point, she and Dutch reportedly lived in McGeHee, Desha County, AR where Dutch was supposedly originally from. They were apparently back in Little Rock though at the time of her early death on January 10, 1937. She died in Baptist Hospital in Little Rock of pheumonia which developed from enfluenza, and is buried at Roselawn Memorial Park. Her death certificate has no date or place of birth recorded, only her age as 38, and indicates that she and Dutch were living at 2110 Chester St. at the time of her death.
