Velander B. Morris, Jr. died in a tragic airplane crash with his younger brother Edward Vern Morris. The crash occurred September 14, 1946 on a hill North of U.S. Hwy 80 and 1/2 block East of 8th St. in Longview, TX . Both are buried in Grace Hill Cemetary, Longview, TX next to their parents.
He was known by his initials 'V.B.' There is some confusion remaining about the correct spelling of the name 'Velander'. On his father's tombstone it is spelled 'Valander'.

Notes for JAMES ALFRED 'JIMMY' MORRIS:
Little Jimmy Morris (James) died at the age of 9 in a tragic accident while attending an airshow in Little Rock, Pulaski Co., AR. The Morris family was temporarily living there at 309 Broadway, their home was El Dorado, Union Co., AR at the time.
A wealty Little Rock benefactor anomymously paid for the funeral and burial costs for Jimmy as well as buying groceries for the surviving family for a number of months afterwards. He was known only as ' the man in the derby hat'. Jimmy is buried in the Oakland Faternal Cemetery, 21st. and Barber St., Little Rock.
