Census records of 1880 taken on June 24, 1880, Dwelling #216, Family #378, Mountain Township, Van Buren Co., AR, on Soundex S 350, Vol 13, E.D. 4, sheet 40, line 10 indicate that Richard (Augustus) Sutton was born in NC as was his father and mother. Richard's occupation is listed as a farmer.
Also listed on p40, immediately under our Richard and in the same household, is another Richard Sutton age 20 in 1880, born Abt 1860 in Alabama and his father in NC. This younger Richard is also listed with an occupation as a farmer. This Richard listed his wife as Elizabeth A., age 15, born Abt 1865 in MS.

Census records indicate Lucy M. (Osborne) Sutton was born abt 1837 in Alabama, her father was born in Virginia, and her mother was born in Georgia.

3. ALLEN ROSCOE2 SUTTON (RICHARD AUGUSTUS1) was born September 11, 1879 near Heber Springs, Cleburne County, AR and died May 10, 1967 in Hot Springs, Garland County, AR. He married LILLIE MAE AMYETT.
Notes for ALLEN ROSCOE SUTTON:
We know that Allen and Lillie Mae lived in Searcy, White County, AR in 1918 when their daughter Norma Lucille Sutton was born. Mr. Sutton and Lillie Mae apparently divorced sometime afterwards. He moved to Little Rock and reared his daughters. He was an acomplished painting and bldg. contractor for most of his working life. His original application for Social Security dated June 14, 1937 (at 57 years of age) , listed his address then as 1121 Rock Street, Little Rock. He died May 10, 1967 in Hot Springs, Garland Co., AR., and is buried in Forest Hills Cemetery in Little Rock, Pulaski Co, AR. Griffin-Leggett Funeral Home officiated. A daughter, Velma M. Stinson and her husband, Andy, are also buried there. His permanent address at the time of death was listed as 1011 Rock St., Little Rock, AR.
Allen Roscoe Sutton's death certificate indicates he was was born in Cleburne County, AR. His Social Security application shows 'near' Heber Springs, Cleburne County, AR. However, the 1880 Census records find him as an infant (9 mos) in Mountain Township, Van Buren Co., AR, an adjacent county to the west. That census lists his parents as Richard ( Augustus) Sutton, born 1828 in North Carolina, his mother as Lucy M. (Osborne), born 1837 in Alabama, a brother James W. born 1863 in AL, a brother, William 'Will' T. born in 1871 in AR. ,a sister Susan E. born 1773 in AR, a brother Edward F. born 1874 in AR.
'Will' T. Sutton may have lived in Poplar Bluff, Butler Co., MO in 1918 and thereafter. Susan became Susan Walls by marriage to James 'Jim' Walls and reportedly lived in Searcy, AR during this time period.
Lillie Mae Amyett had a sister named Belle who married Edgar Ragan. They were last known living in Okmulgee, Okmulgee County, OK and they had two daughters to the best of our information.
Lillie Mae married Joe Puryear. They lived in an apt. in Little Rock on Broadway for a time and subsequently moved to Jonesboro, Craighead County, AR where they lived at the time of their deaths. Both are buried there.
A daughter Imel and her husband at death, David L. Johnson, have both died and are thought to be buried in Woodburn, Marion Co., OR. Widowed daughter, Opal Indelicato, died in April 1999 near Napa, CA. Daughter, Lucy Lorena Byers died in Dec 1986 and is buried in Dalton, Whitfield Co., GA - Children Wayne Allen Garrett and Patricia Sue Garrett Townsend still reside there. Daughter, Norma 'Lucille' Morris, died in Good Shepherd Hospital, Longview, Gregg County, TX. June 17, 2000, and is presently survived byWilliam W. Morris, her husband of nearly half a century, and her three sons.
