Hobbies and Interests

When I first started crunching workunits for SETI in 1999, my computer didn't like the computation client and kept crashing. I abandoned the project until May 26, 2002 when I began processing in earnest using a better computer and another email address. Now I have all my home PCs working in the background.   My current stats are shown below:

Think you can outcrunch the Hog at SETI? Here's a tip for ya!

Motorcycles

I rode scooters, big or little, from the early days of 1957, when my first Cushman got me addicted, to December 1996, when a near-fatal crash brought the saga to an end. Over time, the roads were long and twisty. The exhaust pulse of Thunder Eagle, my last Harley Low-Rider Convertible, set off an adrenaline rush in everyone...you could FEEL the power throbbing your body. The groups I rode with include T.A.M.E., the Texas Association of Motorcycle Enthusiasts, and the Brazosport Chapter of the Harley Owner's Group (HOG). Between my appetite for food and love for fast scooting, it is no wonder they call me "Hog"ward!

Martial Arts

Tae Kwon Do is something I have become interested in rather late in my life, although I was always interested in boxing, and my childhood memories include dad and I watching the Gillette Friday Night Fights.

My youngest son has been heavily involved in WTF Tae Kwon Do, and attained 3rd degree black belt status. He taught, trained, and competed for the U.S. Army, when he was stationed at Fort Hood, Killeen, Texas, and was the 1996 Gold Medalist at the All-Army martial arts competition in the welterweight division. He completed his JD from South Texas College of Law passed the Texas State Bar Exam given in July 2002, and is now a JAG officer stationed at Fort Huachuca, Sierra Vista, AZ. He remains interested in TKD, and participates whenever he can.

The Web has a substantial number of martial arts links, but here I'll just list one federation and a few collegiate TKD links.
