Buyer/Merchandiser
Description    
The Buyer/Merchandiser is responsible for the day to day management of the center of the plate category generating purchase orders; negotiating with Manufacturers and Brokers; coordinating delivery; maintaining accurate pricing and assisting the Sales Department.  In addition, negotiates commodity pricing and buying opportunities for Boxed Beef, Fresh Chicken and Commodity Pork.
Responsibilities
Manages service levels and inventory of assigned categories keeping excess inventory to a minimum.
Makes purchase decisions and manages process for order fulfillment.
Procures designated quality and quantity while minimizing cost of goods.
Handles invoice resolutions and pricing discrepancies.
Communicates favorable purchasing opportunities to management.
Monitors and reports item/category trends within assigned categories.
Maintains awareness of market trends, technology and food safety.
Qualifications
Minimum three years experience in purchasing for a foodservice distributor.

MUST – CENTER OF THE PLATE   experience.  i.e. boxed beef, chicken fried stead, pork – raw and pre-cooked meat items

Must possess good customer service skills and ability to use Microsoft Excel, Word, and Lotus Notes at basic proficiency level.
AS/400 experience preferred.
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Must possess strong problem solving skills.
Must be able to set priorities, meet deadlines, and have excellent follow through.
