Steel Magnolias (August 24 - September 9)
It’s all girl talk in Truvy’s beauty salon in Chinquapin, Louisiana, where a tight-knit group of six southern women gather to get their hair done, gossip, and share struggles and successes. This show will take you from laugh-out-loud hilarity to teary-eyed tragedy as M’Lynn’s daughter Shelby decides to have a baby against her doctor’s wishes, Annelle, who isn’t sure if she’s still married or not, finds the Lord, and Ouiser, Clairee, and Truvy keep the witty banter going between shampoos and blow dries. But strength and friendship prevail as six friends explore birth, death, divorce, and a mother’s greatest sorrow

It is a spring afternoon at the Dowd family home, and a tea for the high-society ladies of the Wednesday Forum is in full swing. The hostess, Veta Louise Simmons, is hoping that the event will allow her daughter, Myrtle Mae, now in her twenties and still unmarried, to mingle with the mothers and grandmothers of some of the town's remaining eligible bachelors. However, to Veta's horror, her brother, Elwood P. Dowd, arrives home unexpectedly and in the company of his closest friend, Harvey, a six foot one-and-a-half inch tall white rabbit—a friend nobody else can see....
DIRECTORS/PLAYS NEEDED FOR THE PLT 54TH SEASON
Directors who wish to be considered for the 54th season should submit by September 30th or request an extension. Directors are asked to submit no more than three plays for perusal. PLT audiences typically do not like plays with shocking language or themes. Musicals, comedies, mysteries, children's plays, romance farce, drama, or classical plays are favorites of our audiences. Seasonal plays such as Christmas, Halloween, and Easter are good options also. Please submit a copy of your directing resume, at least one (more would be appreciated) copy of the plays you are submitting, and a description of your concept for those productions including: set requirements, characters, royalty information (estimate musicals if info is not available), and any special production needs. You may mail this information to Pasadena Little Theatre, P. O. Box 4193, Pasadena, TX 77502 or drop off at the theatre, 4318 Allen-Genoa Road, or submit the packet to a member of the play selection committee. The play selection committee includes Julie Owen, Lanier Young, Dolores Walker, Janet Sharpley, and Debbie Hirsch.
