2006 - 2007 Season

The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas

June 30 - July 16

Tells the story of a little Texas brothel known as the Chicken Ranch--so named because, during the Depression, customers were allowed to pay with poultry! As the story begins, two new girls have just arrived at the Chicken Ranch looking for employment. One of the girls is obviously an experienced street whore, the other has come straight from the farm where she was molested by her father. Miss Mona, the proprietor of the Chicken Ranch and a former prostitute herself, immediately sizes up both girls...

Murder in Bloom

October 13 - 29

What could be more harmless than a ladies' garden club in a small English village? That's what they thought in sleepy, uneventful St. Basil-on-Green, until one day the richest lady in town is mysteriously murdered during a club meeting! As the police come onto the scene we realize that this is more than a mere garden club and that more is at stake than begonias. And who among these harmless ladies would be capable of murder? The gripping ending tells all, with plenty of chills, laughs and poignant moments along the way.

Moon Over Buffalo

December 1 - 17 Auditions October 15 - 16

Directed by Janet Sharpley

The play focuses on a married couple, George and Charlotte Hay, second-rate actors stuck in a repertory purgatory in Buffalo, New York. Charlotte's doddering mother, Ethel mends costumes and delivers caustic barbs to her son-in-law. The Hay's daughter, Roz, has forsaken the theatre for a "normal life" and if her parents' backstage squabbling reflects the dysfunctional family du jour, one can hardly blame her. Serendipity visits George and Charlotte as they discover that director Frank Capra is traveling to Buffalo with the express purpose of observing their performance, with an eye to casting them in his latest film. Naturally, disaster ensues.

Bedroom Farce

January 26 - February 11, 2007 Auditions December 3 - 4

Directed by Lanier Young

Trevor and Susannah have a Problem Relationship which requires urgent attention. What better solution than to talk it over with family and friends? Preferably in their respective bedrooms and ideally in the middle of the night. Inevitably, for Ernest and Delia, Nick and Jan, Malcolm and Kate, one Problem Relationship tends to spark off another. When you have friends like Susannah and Trevor, nobody gets much sleep.

The Night of January 16

March 16 - April 1, 2007 Auditions January 28 - 29

Set in a Courtroom, the play is a gripping drama about the rise and destruction of a brilliant and ruthless man, Bjorn Faulkner.  The great financier's mistress, Karen Andre, stands accused of his murder, with their defiance of society's standards as the greatest evidence of her guilt. Each act of the play represents a different day of the trial, and in an unusual twist, Ms. Andre's guilt or innocence is left up to a jury selected from the audience.

The Nerd

May 4 - 20, 2007 Auditions March 18 - 19

An aspiring young architect in Terre Haute, Indiana, Willum Cubbert has often told his friends about the debt he owes to Rick Steadman, a fellow ex-GI whom he has never met but who saved has life after he was seriously wounded in Vietnam. He has written to Rick to say that, as long as he is alive, "you will have somebody on Earth who will do anything for you"—so Willum is delighted when Rick shows up unexpectedly at his apartment on the night of his thirty-fourth birthday party. But . . .
