Manuel Designs, Inc participated in Amoco's Liuhua 11-1 Development Project

Working as a system engineer for the Subsea System Team has been Bill's main activity for the past five years. Liuhua went onstream in late March, 1996, producing up to 65,000 bopd from twenty subsea wells in 1,020 ft of sea water, 120 miles from Hong Kong.

The wells are completed on the seafloor under the floating production system (FPS). The FPS is a converted semi-submersible drill rig with tools to carry out construction and service of the seafloor equipment. The FPS serves as the platform for drilling new wells and also provides the electrical power for the 500 hp pumps located downhole in each of the wellbores. The wells are interconnected on the seafloor with production via a central manifold and then through pipelines to a floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) tanker moored a little over a mile away.
